It works well, but flake food tends to clump. One feature is a place to install an air line to the feeder to reduce this clumping problem. I plan to do that today to see if this helps. The compartments are small and a bit difficult to fill. It needs a flat place to lay on the hood of the aquarium, which was not a problem with my 36 gal, but no place to do this on the 10 gal hood. Okay, this thing is a pain to load with food. Make sure you put it on a piece of paper or something that you can reclaim spilled food. But here's the thing. It's the only feed I have found that allows you to mix food types (flakes, pellets and algae wafers) without worry of dumping 1/2 ton of one particular food and none of another. Of the three feeders I purchased, this was by far the worst even though is was NOT CHEAP! Very hard to fill the 14 very small feeding compartments. Since there is no bottom to the tray it must be set on the feeder before filling. In case you spill some feed (and you always will with this set up) the feed falls into the timing wheels. Not what I expected
Unlike others have stated, I had no problems filling the feeder. I first measured out the food onto a small piece of paper, then used that as a funnel to load each compartment. The 2 problems I have with the feeder are: 1. I normally feed my fish at 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM. Those choices are not available. 2.
